Accessibility Statement

Our commitment to accessible, inclusive design.

Last updated: May 2025

Our commitment

Accessibility is not a compliance checkbox at Commly Professional — it is central to our product philosophy. We build for neurodiverse professionals and people who experience high cognitive load in workplace environments. Inclusive design is how we work, not how we comply.

We target WCAG 2.2 Level AA as our minimum baseline standard, with AAA aspirations where practically achievable.

Technical accessibility

  • All interactive elements are operable via keyboard without requiring a mouse.
  • Colour contrast ratios meet or exceed WCAG AA requirements (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text and UI components).
  • Semantic HTML is used throughout to support screen reader compatibility.
  • ARIA roles and labels are applied to interactive components where native semantics are insufficient.
  • Form inputs include visible, programmatically associated labels.
  • Focus states are clearly visible and meet contrast requirements.
  • All images include descriptive alt text or are marked as decorative where appropriate.

Cognitive and neuro-inclusive design

Commly Professional was designed from the ground up for professionals who may experience cognitive differences, including autistic users, those with ADHD, anxiety, dyslexia, or burnout. Our design approach reflects this:

  • Reduced visual noise — a calm, low-stimulation interface with deliberate use of white space.
  • Clear information hierarchy — content is structured in a predictable, easy-to-scan format.
  • Consistent interaction patterns — components behave the same way throughout the product.
  • Plain language — instructions and outputs use plain, direct language without unnecessary jargon.
  • Reduced motion support — the interface respects system-level "reduce motion" preferences.
  • Short, manageable content blocks — we avoid overwhelming walls of text.

Ongoing improvement

Accessibility is a continuous practice. We regularly review the product against WCAG criteria and update our implementation as standards evolve.

  • Accessibility issues are triaged as high priority and addressed in the next available release.
  • We do not wait for complaints to improve accessibility — we include it in our standard development process.
  • We welcome feedback from users with disabilities and accessibility professionals.
